Quick & Creamy Paneer Korma Recipe for a Flavorful Dinner

Paneer Korma is a rich, creamy, and mildly spiced Indian curry made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) in a luscious, nut-based gravy. It is flavored with a variety of spices and typically has a smooth texture. Here’s a simple recipe for you to try :

Ingredients :

For the paste :

10-12 cashews

2 tbsp poppy seeds (optional)

1 large onion (roughly chopped)

2-3 green chilies (adjust to taste)

1-inch piece of ginger

4-5 garlic cloves

For the curry :

200-250g paneer (cubed)

2 tbsp oil or ghee (clarified butter)

2 tbsp yogurt (whisked)

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 bay leaf

2-3 green cardamoms

1-inch cinnamon stick

2-3 cloves

½ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp coriander powder

½ tsp garam masala

Salt to taste

½ cup fresh cream

Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)

Instructions :

  1. Make the paste :

Soak the cashews and poppy seeds in warm water for about 15 minutes. Drain and set aside.

In a blender, combine the soaked cashews, poppy seeds, onions, green chilies, ginger, and garlic. Blend into a smooth paste using a little water if needed.

  1. Prepare the curry base :

Heat oil or ghee in a pan on medium heat. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cardamoms, cinnamon, and cloves. Sauté until fragrant.

Add the prepared onion-cashew paste and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until it turns golden brown.

  1. Spice it up :

Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Stir well and cook for another minute.

Lower the heat and add whisked yogurt gradually, stirring continuously to prevent curdling. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

  1. Add paneer :

Gently add paneer cubes to the gravy and coat them well with the spices and yogurt mixture.

Pour in some water or milk to adjust the consistency of the gravy. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.

  1. Finish the curry :

Stir in the fresh cream and garam masala. Let it simmer for another 2 minutes until the gravy is rich and smooth.

Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.

  1. Garnish :

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
